One of a life affirming collection of works called First Hugs, expressing what it will be like when we can embrace each other again.

John imagines the scenes, in free and heartfelt oil paint, as we do the thing again that comes so naturally in expressing our love and care for others. Free of the fear of Covid. He has painted people young and old, lovers, families, friends, meeting again and holding each other tight. Over the series of 20 works, the captures a variety of emotions. Relief and joy, gentleness and poignancy, and perhaps as well the fragility of our lives, brought home by the pandemic.
