Handcrafted Wooden Art
Each piece Mark creates is meticulously hand-turned, making it as unique as the wood it’s made from. He works with a variety of hardwoods sourced locally in the Highlands of Scotland, including:
•Ash
•Beech and Spalted Beech
•Birch and Silver Birch
•Cherry
•Elm, Wych Elm, and Burr Elm
•Burr Oak
•Sycamore
•Yew
•Lime
These woods, with their distinct grains and characteristics, form the foundation of Mark's creations. he specialises in a wide range of wooden-ware, including boxes, bowls, wall art, and contemporary woodturning pieces.
Due to the natural uniqueness of wood and the handcrafted nature of the work, no two pieces are ever identical.
Caring for Your Wooden Art
Wood is a living material, even after it’s been turned and finished. While we take great care to ensure that the wood used is thoroughly dried and naturally seasoned, some natural imperfections or changes can occur over time.
To preserve your piece:
•Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as this may fade the wood’s natural color.
•Keep it away from heat sources to prevent splitting
