New artists to the gallery

Becca Thorpe

Becca’s move to Scotland in 2020 has been an incredible artistic journey. Working from her studio in Crieff, an artistic opportunity is literally on her doorstep and that dramatic colour sunset just a short bike ride away.

Living in the highlands gives her constant inspiration and she endeavours to encapsulate the atmosphere of the ever-changing scenery that Scotland presents.

The remoteness has allowed her to appreciate untouched natural beauty and develop a new perception of light and perspective. Through her use of oils, Becca continues to develop her obvious talent for detail to create an intense depth of colour combined with a relaxing calm and sense of peace.

Sarah Ross Thompson

Sarah is a Fine Art Printmaker who specialises in hand-inked, collagraph prints and constructs her collage printing plates using materials such as string, salt, corrugated card, porridge oats and lichen. Having been lucky enough to live in some of the most beautiful parts of Britain and now need only look out of the window to draw inspiration from the breath taking scenery. Having recently moved from lush Argyll to Dumfries and Galloway, she now finds herself with a Lighthouse view from her new studio window.

Lesley Walker

Lesley graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in the 1980’s and spent 30 years teaching art and textiles in London and Hertfordshire before moving to the Lancashire Ribble Valley. Her creative process was influenced by the surrounding landscape and the history of the textile industry.

She began experimenting with printmaking, textiles and ceramics and the result is her ceramic flower bobbins, evoking memories of childhood picking posies of wildflowers on walks being arranged in jam jars of water on the kitchen table. Lesley’s ancient typewriter is used, tapping each letter single fingered to add the words and poetry.

Laura Woods

Originally from the south of England, Laura has lived in Perthshire since 2008, where all of her creations begin. Laura strives for her pieces to spark a smile. Her work now is predominantly created using chicken wire and rabbit netting, occasionally using copper, aluminium and steel wire.

Gayle Drummond

Gayle’s art explores her fascination with the natural world and enjoyment of the process of making. Some pieces have a story, some are made simply for the curiosity, pleasure and frustration of making. Inspiration can come from anywhere - a tiny mushroom, a feather falling to the ground, a pair of false eyelashes, some colourful graffiti, fruit on a tree, insects in a hurry, the list goes on. Having studied Tapestry at Edinburgh College of Art a lifetime ago, she concentrated on watercolour for a long time afterwards. These days Gayle works with felt, fabric, embroidery and other materials that fit in with each piece as she makes it and enjoys changing between painting and making. Her work will make you smile or spark your imagination.
